McMurphy Farms is a Family owned and operated business.  Randy & Paula McMurphy started McMurphy Farms in the late 70’s.  The farm began as a commercial cow/calf and stocker operation utilizing wheat pasture and native grass as a primary feed source. The farm has continued to raise wheat and hay for the sustainability of the cattle operation.  Like many ranchers and farmers it takes a collaborative effort of all family members.  Paula has been working as a beautician for over 27 years and has owned her own establishment for over 20years.  Randy and Paula have two boys, Cody and Casey, who were raised on the farm and grew up showing and judging livestock as well as being a part of the production operation.

Cody graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science.  Cody then went to work for the Farm Service Agency-USDA. With his life revolving around agriculture, this allowed him to work in the field of agriculture while providing assistance to farmers and ranchers on a daily basis.  Cody’s wife Megan also received her degree from OSU and currently teaches first grade.  Although, Megan did not go into the agricultural field her family has a long tradition of raising and showing purebred Herefords. Cody and Megan have a daughter, Avery, who was born May 5, 2007. Today, Cody and Megan reside in Enid, Ok.

Casey received his bachelor’s in Ag Business from Oklahoma State University.  Casey graduated from OSU in 2004 and then received his Masters degree in ruminant nutrition from the University of Arizona in 2007.  He is currently pursuing a Ph.D at Oklahoma State University with a focus on cow/calf nutrition.   Casey and his wife, Tracy, live in Stillwater, OK.  Tracy received her bachelor’s in Agriculture Communication at OSU and then received her Master’s degree in Mass communication at Arizona State University.  She is currently employed at Oklahoma State University as the web content specialist for the OSU Division of Agriculture. Tracy also operates her own advertising and web design company, Dream Designs. Tracy grew up on a dairy farm but showed steers and heifers for 10 years.

In 2002 we were ready to expand the herd from strictly a commercial Angus operation to a purebred Black Angus operation.  We started building our foundation herd from J&J Cattle Company, Penner Angus Ranch and Oklahoma State University.  The building did not stop and by the beginning of 2003 our family decided to diversify from only Black Angus and incorporate Red Angus into our Registered and Commercial Operation.  Our foundation Red Angus females have been derived from Lonker Red Angus, James Red Angus, Wallace Cattle Co. and Oates Land and Cattle.

Our greatest joy is working with livestock and people in the agricultural industry.  We understand that it is as much of a people business as it is a cattle business.

Please take a look at our sires, females and cattle for sale and feel free to contact us with any questions or to come look at the cattle.
